Home learning T1 WK8

For my Home learning/Homework I buddied up with Thomas as my home learning partner. Thomas and I had finished our home learning about The Great Palace Of Bangkok, Thailand. We had talked about what it was, Where it was, who uses it, when was it built and why is it there. For the Great Palace of Bangkok, Thailand has a rule you need to follow. The rule is about your dress code:
  • NO VEST TOPS or TANK TOPS (FOR MALE or FEMALES)
  • NO SHORT SLEEVES THAT SHOW SHOULDERS
  • NO MIDRIFF ON SHOW
  • NO BACKLESS CLOTHING
  • NO LOW-CUT CLOTHING ON FEMALES
  • NO PANTS OR SKIRTS THAT SHOW ANKLES - basically no mini skirts, shorts and 3/4 length pants.
  • NO FLIP-FLOPS
  • NO BARE CHESTS (obviously this mainly applies to men)

Should we or shouldn't change the flag

LI: To make an informed choice (Based on the information)
Image result for nz flag
In LS2 we had to make an informed choice on the NZ flags. Our informed choice was if we would want to change the flag or not. We had all been split up into groups to use a T-Chart on if we should change the flag or not. We had found great information about why we should or shouldn't change the flag. As a class we had gave our own information about the flags. In LS2 we had came up with a lot of information on the NZ flag.

Why we shouldn't change the flag is because:
It was a piece of history, it has a meaning behind it, it could disrespect the soldiers who had fought under it, it had been in our country for long time, it was representing the heritage, freedom and independence.

Why we should change the flag is because:
It is similar to the Australian flag, We are not part of the British Empire, It is a new generation, Many flags have the Union Jack and The colors represent New Zealand.

As a class we all had to make our own choice if we should or shouldn't change the flag.

For my Reading I learned about The 3 Kete. One of the Kete stands for Mental and Physical challenges, Emotions and prayers. For Mental and Physical challenges I learnt how to keep in focus in my maths work and to not be distracted from others that are talking to me. For the Kete of Emotions I had let other people join in our group activities also for the Kete of prayer I wake up every morning and pray to have a good day at school.

What is TOPES

For Writing I grouped up with Jessie, Sylis, Victoria and Mya. As a group we worked well together for our writing. We had explained What is TOPES? TOPES is used in your writing to help you, T - Tittle, O - Orientation, P - Problem, E - Explanation and S - Solution also we had explained these meant.

TOPES

Tittle:
It is a name that is given to  the story.
The Little Red Riding Hood
Orientation:
It means it is a hook  that is in the start of your story.
Little Red Riding Hood had to take food to her grandmas house she was walking through the forest then a wolf comes and stalks Little Red Riding Hood.
Problem:
It is the story that explain the problem that is happening in the story.
The wolf races to grandma’s house and ties up grandma and shoves her into the closet. The wolf pretends to be grandma, and then Little Red Riding Hood knocks on the door.
Explanation:
A statement that makes something clear.
After Little Red Riding Hood  walks to grandma’s house she notices that grandma had big and long ears, big eyes and was hairy. After she notice that  she knew it was the wolf.
Solution:It is solving the problem in the story.
The Woodcutter saves Little red riding hood from getting eaten.

L.I: It is to understand the structure of a narrative.

For my writing my group and I put together a story called Little Red Riding. We had to put the story in the order of TOPES which is the structure of the narrative writing.
