LS2 have been learning about water safety. We finished off a task about River safety. We have learned a lot about reading the article and making into a DLO. Keeping safe in the river is a real deal because if you go on a bush walk you might see a river. You need to check your clothes and equipment if you ever try to cross it. You can not cross the river by yourself because you will get into danger. Remember to check down the streams for potential hazards such as rapids.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson, Ms Naicker and Ms Kirkpatrick.

Narrative Writing - Shoes
The Mind Changing Shoes
On a cold winter's night, I was getting ready to play on the soccer field. As I was about to be put on I was taken back of. I felt like I was a disappointment and I was sitting in the locker room all by myself lonely. I could smell a disgusting soaked socks and I was about to die. I tried to hold my breath but the smell was to strong. I was saved from someone who had finally open the locker door. I could see light flashing through my eyes, as I was so excited but then as soon as I got to see properly the locker door just shut in my face again. Then again I could smell a load of rubbish like it was right next to me. I fell asleep and the owner took me home with him, he shoved me under his bed cold and abandoned. I felt worn out when I was shoved under the bed and like I was useless again. The next morning came, I could feel the sunlight against my face. I finally knew I was useless to be worn until I was surprised I was bought and been warned. The owner had soccer practice at 8 in the morning, I was getting prepared to not be worn again.
I was back to my old place with the smelly soaked socks and the disgusting rubbishes. As his foot went inside I smelt like toe jams, I couldn’t hold my breath any longer so I had to breathe his own feet. I couldn’t believe I was sad just to be worn now look I ended up smelling toe jams. As my face was getting stomped on, I could feel my face being bruised badly, I felt like I was in a car crash. There was something coming up to me it was really smelling I didn’t want to be stood on I wonder what it was. The owner was running along the field until it stepped on mud that smelt like poo. I couldn’t believe my face I was all covered in mud that smelt really bad. I felt like I wanted to go back into my locker with the soaked socks and the disgusting rubbish bin, I thought that smelt better than this time. He was carrying me home in his hands and I was so tired and cold. I just wanted to run away and be with another owner that would actually care and wash me every night.
Today for writing Victoria and I wrote a story for only 15 minutes but the subject had to be based on a shoe. It was pretty hard because we sat back to back and we only could write a sentence then we kept it going. We came up with writing a story about a mind changing shoes. It is about a shoe who wants to be worn but he changed his mind once he got the chance to be worn.

Charlotte Anne
Today for my reading my group and I had to do the 6 thinking hats based Charlotte Anne. She was the women who proved to men that women's can do anything men can do. She was the first lady to wear men trousers and rugged boots because the women wore dresses and skirts.

Kyle Mewburn
Jane and I have made a DLO on Kyle Mewburn. He is an author who writes children books. He has came to visit our school and told us a lot of his life stories. It was really interesting to listen to him he told us that some of his books he wrote was based on him and his family.

Japanese Poster
I have made a poster on the Japanese culture there is the map of where Japan is also 5 facts about Japan. There is a lot to learn about the Japanese culture mostly the beautiful things you might see. 1 of the facts is that Japan suffer 1,500 earthquakes every year.

Japanese
We have made a popplet on the Japanese language. We learned a lot from learning the Japanese words which would really help us talk in Japanese to other people. June, silivia and I came together and collaborated into making this DLO. We kept trying to pronounce the words it was pretty hard but we still tried.

Synthesizing
We were learning to synthesize in our reading. Synthesizing is looking at things in a different way. I created a poster about the Life of Anne Bonny. I used everything I knew about Anne Bonny to create my poster. What we found out after researching. The new information helped us think about what the picture would look like, what the title might be and what background would match their achievements.

Preflix Word - Sub
Sub Paragraph
The man took the subway to his subcellar. On his way he stopped to check out a submarine submerging down to the subterranean, subzero water. When he received a call that he could study about the substratum under the earth's soil. Than he received mail from the subordinate staff, he suddenly felt his heart subvert as he read the daily subtitle.
Our writing for today was that we have to work collaboratively in our group to find words with sub in it for out Sub Word Wall. Sub means under or below. We found our words on our computers and using the dictionary. Once we finished our sub words we wrote a paragraph based on using our words we have done on the sub word wall. As a group we found a lot of words with the help of eachother.
5 timetable to solve our problem
Today in maths my partner and I have created a D.L.O that explains using your 5 timetables to answer your question. We have put 3 equations and broken it apart so it is easier.
