Buddy Reading

Today we have buddy reading with room 3&4. My partner that I picked was from rm 3. He had picked a book which was called The Crocodile Blues. It was a very cool book and my partner was very interested in the book he read to me. He stumble sometimes but he got to learn new words. As a class we had a lot of fun buddy reading. 

Book Character Parade

Today we came in costume for the book character parade. I was tiger the tiger from Winnie the Pooh. It was a fun day dressing up for the juniors to bring the magic of the book alive. The staff member dressed up also and it was good to see people participated to the parade. It was a tough day with the weather but it was really fun. We have some visitor's like the head leader of Tamaki College, People from Panmure Library. People that participating had a great time dressing up. 

Advertising

For writing we played a collaborative game on advertising. It was a lot harder doing it then watching. We were put in groups to write down the same thing on the paper but the writer wasn't allowed to see it. After the game we have to write what advertising is only using 25 words. Later we made a DLO based on what we were doing. Advertising is a way for business to promote their products. Advertisers persuade their target audience's into thinking like them and trick people into believing their advertisement.

Attributing Images

For inquiry the whole class have learnt about attributing images. Why do you think it is important to learn to attribute images? Attributing images s really important because you need to learn to know how you can get permission to reuse the photo's. 

Orienteering

For orienteering we got to have fun and run around to try and finish in time because they timed us. Mere and I worked together to finish off in time. We came 18:10 also we were the first girls to finish so we were very happy. The sport orienteering was really fun and we learned a lot like reading the map. Our instructors were Leon and Elaina and we would like to thank them for coming too our school to teach us how to play orienteering.

Life Education

The Yr 8's have got time to finish off the life education books. I have been working on colouring the boxes to answer the questions. Our booklets have been teaching us about what the the bads things are and the good things. Life Education was really fun to learn with.

Get Wise With Jeremy

At Get Wise the yr 8's didn't know what is was going to be about. I have found out it was about being wise with money. We all as a class learned a lot from being wise with money. The most that got stuck in our head was the cross road it was the hard road and the easy road. If you go the easy road nothing would happen in your life if you would be really easy then you die at the end, but if you go through the hard road it would push you to the limit you are good at and it would take you to a better place then you die.  Ways to earn money is to do chores, Neighbourhoods jobs and sell & trade. Always save your money in your bank for you to spend for your needs. Bank account will grow your money thru interest. There are different pressure, money can be good and money can be bad.

Finding Information game

For reading I have played a game called Finding Information. From this game I learned how to find information from just looking at the title and read a little of the text. This is a spooky literally game about finding information by using my information finding skills. Are you up for it? 

Deduction - Trapped Game

In reading I played a game of Trapped it really helps me with my reading. To play this deduction game to get out of the tower you need to read the passage of the book and see what you can find from it. It can really help you with your reading.

Non - Fiction Game

For reading I have played a game to help me on my reading so I could improve. I had fun with this game. The instruction was to select the appropriate title, text and picture to match the three non - fiction type of writing. There was a children's book, news item and a catalogue entry. 

Story Starters Scramble - Writing

For Writing we played a online game where we have to spin the wheel to pick a topic you want to write about. The topic of mine was to sell a brainy elephant seal who collects stamps. I have to write an add to sell a brainy elephant seal. I have wrote a ad to inform people to get the elephant seal. 

Yr 8 Life Education

Today the yr 8 went to the Life Education caravan that was right in our school block. Our life education teacher was Nicole. We learned a lot about our body like: What it is called, How they react inside our body and What does it look like. I found out that your heart  shape isn't actually a love heart it is a shape of your fist. We learned about our nervous system which is the nerves and the reaction. Also learned about our Circulatory which is our blood that flows inside our body even the muscles. We played a game we have to stand in two line and put our right hand on the shoulder of the person that is in front of us. The game teached us how fast our reaction came from our brain to our hand.
